Plettenberg appoints new volunteer fire brigade leadership

The city of Plettenberg held a statutory hearing on July 13, 2026, where Mayor Ralf Beßler thanked the outgoing fire brigade leader Markus Bauckhage and his deputies Markus Hüsken and Frank Hinkelmann as their term ends on 17 October. The council will vote on the new leadership on 14 July, with the proposed candidates – deputy district fire chief Michael Kling, city fire inspector Michael Turk, senior fire inspector Jens Braukmann and fire official Lars Pietrowski – expected to assume duties on 18 October.

The decision follows a public presentation of the candidates and reflects the municipality’s plan to maintain fire safety services under new management.
