Pleven medical center offers free breast cancer screenings

Medical Center ‘Sveta Marina – Diagnostics and Therapy’ in Pleven is organizing a campaign for free echomammographies to support early breast cancer detection. The initiative, held in observance of European Breast Cancer Awareness Month, targets women aged 18 to 30.

Dr. Marin Marinov, an imaging diagnostics specialist, will conduct the screenings on October 23 and 30 between 15:00 and 18:00. Interested individuals must make an appointment in advance via telephone.

The campaign responds to a significant trend in Bulgaria, where cases of breast cancer in women under 30 have increased by over 90% in recent years. The World Health Organization notes that breast cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women globally, emphasizing that timely diagnosis and access to treatment are critical factors in reducing mortality rates.
