PLN develops electrical infrastructure in Kendal Special Economic Zone
PT PLN (Persero) is accelerating the development of electrical infrastructure within the Kendal Special Economic Zone (KEK Kendal) in Central Java. The project involves the construction of a 150 kV Kendal Substation and 150 kV Kendal Incomer High Voltage Overhead Lines (SUTT).
According to Ferdyan Hijrah Kusuma, Senior Manager of Licensing, Land, and Communication for the PLN Central Java Development Unit, reliable electricity is a primary factor in attracting investors to industrial areas. The project aims to connect existing transmission networks to the economic zone rather than building new power plants.
Land procurement for the substation and transmission lines has reached the construction stage with support from the Central Java Provincial Government. The project is targeted for completion by the end of 2026, with the goal of increasing the number of tenants in the zone and creating jobs for the local community.
