PLN implements rotating power outages in Sulawesi for maintenance

PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Distribusi Sulselrabar has implemented rotating power outages in Makassar and surrounding areas due to ongoing electrical infrastructure maintenance. The company has deployed over 230 technicians to accelerate repairs and maintenance on the electrical system in South, Southeast, and West Sulawesi to ensure long-term supply reliability.

Officials clarified that the outages are strictly due to the maintenance of facilities, including networks, substations, and transformers, and are not caused by the El Nino phenomenon or decreased water levels in hydroelectric plants. The load management is expected to result in outages lasting between one and four hours per session. The maintenance process is intended to mitigate future weather-related impacts and is expected to conclude within the coming days, returning the system to normal operations shortly.
