PLO Executive Committee calls for Palestinian national dialogue in Cairo

The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) has called for a comprehensive Palestinian national dialogue to be held in Cairo under Egyptian sponsorship. This initiative follows President Mahmoud Abbas’s recent announcement regarding a Palestinian reconciliation conference.

The committee met to discuss political and field developments, expressing support for President Abbas’s recent speech to the United Nations General Assembly. The committee reaffirmed the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. They also condemned Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.

A central focus of the discussion was the necessity of holding legislative elections across all Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, simultaneously. The PLO committee called on the United Nations and the international community to ensure transparency and provide international oversight to prevent Israeli obstacles from hindering the electoral process. The committee has decided to remain in permanent session to monitor ongoing developments.
