Plourin-les-Morlaix shooting suspect dies in hospital

A man in his sixties died in a hospital on September 6, 2026, after allegedly killing his 60-year-old neighbor in Plourin-les-Morlaix, Finistère. The suspect reportedly turned the weapon on himself following the attack.

According to Brest prosecutor Stéphane Kellenberger, the suspect also seriously injured the victim's 55-year-old partner. Gendarmes discovered the man in an unconscious and armed state, leading to his emergency airlift to the hospital.

A large-scale police operation involving approximately fifty gendarmes, including the GIGN unit from Nantes and three negotiators, was deployed to the residential area. An investigation has been opened into murder and attempted murder.
