Plourin-Lès-Morlaix shooting leaves one dead and one injured

A shooting in Plourin-Lès-Morlaix, Finistère, resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to her son on Friday afternoon. According to the Brest Prosecutor, Stéphane Kellenberger, the victims were neighbors of the suspect, a man in his fifties.

Emergency services responded to reports of three gunshots. The suspect reportedly barricaded himself in a building, prompting a large-scale police operation involving approximately 50 gendarmes, including the GIGN unit from Nantes and three negotiators. The prefecture has cordoned off the area, and local authorities have advised residents to remain calm and limit movement. A temporary shelter has been opened for residents unable to return to their homes.

An investigation has been opened into murder and attempted murder.
