Plovdiv announces 2026 Autumn Salon of Arts and contemporary art week

Plovdiv is set to host a series of major cultural events throughout the autumn of 2026, headlined by the 32nd edition of the Week of Contemporary Art and the 22nd Autumn Salon of Arts.

The Week of Contemporary Art, curated by Emil Mirazchiev, will run from September 3 to October 2, 2026. Themed ‘Bug in Reality’, the exhibition explores cracks in the established order, including digital anomalies and shifts in social structures. The project features works by various international and local artists, including Anton Stoyanov, Ayelet Karmi, Merav Heiman, and others. The event will extend beyond the City Art Gallery with installations at the Roman Stadium and guerrilla actions in the urban environment.

The Autumn Salon of Arts begins on September 1 with a performance of ‘The Last Flight of Don Juan’ by Dejan Donkov at the Ancient Theatre. The salon's extensive program spans September through November and includes festivals, concerts, and theatrical events such as the Plovdiv Jazz Fest, Opera Open, and Kapana Fest. Other notable highlights include the National Autumn Exhibitions ‘Mirrors of the City’ and the 13th International Photo Salon.
