Plovdiv central district to undergo major infrastructure overhaul

The Central district of Plovdiv announced a public procurement for a comprehensive renovation of the water‑sewage and street network covering the block bounded by Tsar Boris III Blvd, Graf Ignatiev St, Petko D. Petkov St and Bogomil St. The project, valued at about €9.16 million (excluding VAT), will replace the entire utility infrastructure, repave streets and create new green areas with children’s and sports playgrounds.

Mayor Georgi Stamenov said the repair is "absolutely necessary" because Graf Ignatiev is a key traffic artery and the area suffers frequent pipe failures. While financing has not yet been secured, the municipality expects that once a project plan, contractor and building permit are in place, funds will be found. Offers for the contract must be submitted by 31 August 2026.
