On Sunday 2 August 2026 at 10:00 a.m., the city of Plovdiv will hold a ceremony to commemorate the 123rd anniversary of the Ilinden‑Preobrazhenie uprising of 1903. The event will take place in the “South” district in front of the monument to Bulgarians from Eastern and Western Thrace and White Sea Macedonia who fell in the national‑liberation struggles.

Organised by the municipal cultural calendar, the programme includes a military spiritual orchestra, a representative formation and an honour guard from the Joint Special Operations Command, members of the “Rodolubie” committee and the “Tradition” society, and representatives of state and municipal institutions. The ceremony will be hosted by Zlate Pavlov and will feature a speech by Dr. Milen Mihov, chair of the Macedonian Scientific Institute and associate professor of modern Bulgarian history. It will conclude with wreath‑laying and a one‑minute silence.
