Plovdiv Municipality launches 1.275 million EUR lighting upgrade in Trakia

The Plovdiv Municipality has launched a second attempt to modernize the street and park lighting in the Trakia district. The new public procurement procedure, announced in late September, has an estimated value of 1,275,000 EUR excluding VAT, which is approximately 414,000 EUR less than the original budget.

The previous procurement attempt, initiated in January, was terminated in February due to technical specification errors and documentation inconsistencies that could have limited competition.

The project, overseen by Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov, involves the delivery and installation of 2,046 LED lighting units—comprising 1,733 for streets and 313 for parks—along with 461 new poles of varying heights and 40 control panels. The new system is designed to allow light intensity regulation to reduce energy costs and improve visibility in residential areas and parks, replacing infrastructure that dates back to the 1980s.
