Plovdiv to begin low-emission zone fines on December 1
The Plovdiv Municipality has announced that fines for violating restrictions in the Little Ring low-emission zone will begin on December 1, 2026. While the zone officially came into effect on October 1, the first two months will serve as a grace period where violators receive warnings instead of penalties to allow drivers to adjust to the new regulations.
The zone prohibits vehicles from the first and second ecological groups within the area bounded by Ruski, Shesti Septemvri, Tsar Boris III Obedinitel, and Hristo Botev boulevards. The restrictions are seasonal, operating from October 1 to April 30. A larger zone, known as the Big Ring, is planned to begin operations on October 1, 2028.
Although a deputy mayor previously suggested fines could reach 1,000 leva, the municipality has not yet released official information regarding the specific amount of the penalties.
