Plovdiv to host international photography and film festivals

Plovdiv is set to host two major cultural events in 2026. The 13th International Photo Salon Plovdiv will hold an outdoor exhibition at the Roman Stadium from August 15 to September 7, 2026. The exhibition features over 140 selected photographs from a pool of 4,424 entries submitted by 289 participants from 41 countries. The top award for best author was given to Abhishek Basak from India.

Additionally, the 12th edition of the Cinelibri festival, which bridges cinema and literature, will take place from October 15 to November 8, 2026. The festival will span eight Bulgarian cities, including Plovdiv, Sofia, and Varna. Under the theme ‘Civilization of the Spectacle,’ inspired by the works of Mario Vargas Llosa and Guy Debord, the program will feature over 70 films, including literary adaptations and premieres from major international film festivals.
