Plovdiv updates pedestrian crossings near schools
The Plovdiv Municipality has launched an initiative to renew pedestrian crossings near schools and kindergartens across the city. The project aims to enhance safety for children and pedestrians before the new school year begins on September 15.
Work is currently focused on the Trakia district, where road markings are being restored at 24 different locations. To minimize traffic disruption, maintenance on Soyedinenie Street will take place during daylight hours, while work on residential streets will be conducted at night. Following the completion of the Trakia district by September 14, the project will expand to other areas of Plovdiv.
In addition to repainting crossings, the city is installing traffic lights equipped with pedestrian request buttons that feature tactile signs and Braille. One such button has already been installed near the ‘St. Sophronius of Vrachata’ High School, with more planned for locations near ‘St. Sedmochelnitsi’ High School and ‘Zahari Stoyanov’ Primary School.
