Bulgarian public safety and infrastructure measures

Overview

In early September, Bulgarian authorities and local municipalities implemented various safety and security measures.

Police forces increased security and traffic management in preparation for national holidays, including Unification Day and Independence Day. In Plovdiv, specialized units and Gendarmerie were deployed to manage mass events, while traffic closures were planned for marathon routes. In the Sliven region, authorities increased monitoring on the Trakia motorway using drones and specialized vehicles to target speeding and driving under the influence.

Concurrently, the Plovdiv Municipality initiated infrastructure updates to enhance pedestrian safety near schools and kindergartens. This project included renewing road markings in the Trakia district and installing new traffic lights equipped with tactile signs and Braille for accessibility.
