PM Magyar accuses former President Áder János of residing in taxpayer‑financed villa

Prime Minister Peter Magyar posted a drone video of a 720 m² house he claims belongs to former President Áder János and is funded by public money. Magyar alleges the villa’s annual utilities cost 21 million ft and that the former president receives a driver, personal staff, a car, a secretariat and a monthly benefit of 6 million ft, all paid by taxpayers.

Áder responded that he is still awaiting the evidence or an apology demanded by Magyar. The exchange has sparked a broader debate over the use of state resources, with Magyar asserting that the property was upgraded at Áder’s request to increase its buildable area.

The controversy highlights ongoing tensions in Hungarian politics over alleged misuse of public funds by senior officials.
