PM Modi inaugurates Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave 2026
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second edition of the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Addressing the event, the Prime Minister emphasized that India is transitioning from a nation that adopts foreign technologies to one that develops original, world-leading innovations.
Modi highlighted several critical sectors for India's technological foundation, including semiconductors, quantum technology, biotechnology, advanced materials, robotics, space, clean energy, and next-generation communication systems. He noted that the country is building a strong scientific base through various national missions and cited recent milestones such as the shipment of Indian-made chips and advancements in nuclear energy via the fast breeder reactor technology in Kalpakkam.
Minister of State for Science & Technology Jitendra Singh concluded the conclave by calling for “transformation through technology.” The event saw the release of two key documents: the National Vision Document for ESTIC 2026, which aligns priorities with the Viksit Bharat 2047 goal, and the India: Science, Technology and Innovation Outlook 2026, designed to support evidence-based policymaking.
