India Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave 2
Overview
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second edition of the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2026 in New Delhi. During the event, the Prime Minister stated that India is transitioning from a nation that adopts foreign technologies to one that develops original, world-leading innovations. He identified several priority sectors, including semiconductors, quantum technology, biotechnology, robotics, space, and clean energy.
As the conclave progressed, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for India to lead in future-oriented technologies and addressed the implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He noted that while AI can increase productivity, it should be used to “enrich rather than limit independent thought.” Additionally, he warned of cybersecurity threats posed by AI to financial networks and national security, calling for the development of AI-based security solutions.
