PMOS symptoms include acne and irregular menstruation
Medical experts are highlighting the signs of Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), a proposed new name for what was previously known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
Dr. Rashmi Talwar, head of laboratory and genetics at Agilus Diagnostics, notes that seemingly unrelated changes—such as sudden acne, unexpected hair growth, weight changes, and irregular menstrual cycles—may indicate an underlying hormonal imbalance. Dr. Talwar advises that while these symptoms can be attributed to stress or aging, a simultaneous shift in skin, hair, weight, and menstruation warrants medical evaluation. Key indicators include unpredictable menstrual cycles, such as cycles that continuously lengthen or periods occurring fewer than eight times a year.
