Poaching incidents reported in Râșcani and Călărași

Authorities in Moldova are investigating multiple incidents of illegal hunting and poaching. In Râșcani, the killing of five birds listed in the Red Book has resulted in environmental damage estimated to exceed 65,000 lei. Dorin Poverjuc, head of the Environmental Protection Inspectorate (IPM), stated that four individuals were believed to be in the area at the time of the crime, though they have not yet been identified. Investigators have seized three weapons for ballistic examination and recovered a 3mm shell casing from the scene.

In a separate incident, a deer approximately two years old was shot illegally near the village of Novaci in the Călărași district. The incident occurred during the night of September 18–19 along the Călărași–Ungheni route. Environmental inspectors are currently investigating these cases of wildlife crime.
