Połaniec water supply contaminated with coli bacteria
A water contamination crisis has been declared in the Połaniec municipality in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. Following tests conducted on August 11, 2026, the Sanitary Inspectorate in Staszow reported that the 'Połaniec-Wiązownica' supply zone contains coli group bacteria at a concentration of 13 jtk/100 ml, exceeding the required zero threshold.
As a result, the water is deemed unfit for human consumption. Residents are advised that tap water may only be used for cleaning purposes and flushing toilets. The Government Security Centre (RCB) has issued an alert to the local population regarding the situation.
In response, the municipal government has convened a crisis staff and established 18 drinking water distribution points. The Municipal Economy Enterprise (PGK) and Volunteer Fire Departments (OSP) are managing the distribution of potable water through mobile points and stationary locations to ensure the community has access to safe drinking water.
