Pocollay residents protest unfinished road construction in Tacna

Residents from nine associations in the Pocollay district protested outside the Regional Government of Tacna (GRT) on November 4 to demand the completion of Los Productores Avenue. Protesters expressed frustration over the halted construction, which has caused traffic difficulties, restricted public transport access, and increased accident risks.

Edy Flores, president of the Vilurcuni Association, reported that a search of the Ministry of Economy and Finance portal showed no budget allocated for the project this year. While a delegation was received by the GRT, a scheduled meeting was suspended due to the absence of a representative from the contracting company. A follow-up dialogue session has been rescheduled for November 5, with residents demanding the direct participation of Governor Luis Torres Robledo to secure concrete commitments.
