Podgorica to establish Montenegro's first employment center for persons with disabilities
Podgorica is set to open Montenegro's first employment center for persons with disabilities through a two-year project funded by a grant from the European Fund for Social Policy Development. Violeta Golubović, Secretary for Social Care, stated that the center aims to support individuals in entering the labor market by focusing on their potential and competitiveness rather than just their obstacles.
The initial phase of the project will involve mapping and research, including consultations with the civil sector and disability associations to identify specific needs and suitable job opportunities. The center is expected to be operational within the next two years.
In a related development regarding inclusivity in education, the University of Montenegro has established the Office for Support to Persons with Disabilities (KAPSIN) through the international HAWKING project. Dr. Veselin Mićanović, Vice Rector of the University of Montenegro, noted that the project, supported by Erasmus+, aims to improve the transition of students with disabilities from secondary to higher education by addressing physical, digital, and informational barriers.
