Podlaskie Police report 300 railway crossing violations
During a one-day safety operation titled ‘Bezpieczny przejazd’ in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, nearly 200 police officers identified approximately 400 traffic violations. The operation specifically targeted safety at railway crossings.
Of the total violations, 300 drivers failed to come to a complete stop at STOP signs before railway crossings. Police noted that many drivers merely slowed down and looked around rather than stopping their wheels, which is a requirement for the B-20 sign. The authorities emphasized that stopping is critical due to limited visibility at crossings caused by embankments or vegetation, and the immense difficulty for train drivers to avoid collisions once a vehicle is on the tracks.
In total, officers issued 200 fines, 165 warnings, and submitted 9 requests for punishment to the court.
