Pokémon Champions launches India Series for 2027 World Championship pathway
The Pokémon Company has announced the ‘Pokémon Champions India Series 2027 Season,’ establishing a formal competitive pathway for players in India to qualify for the 2027 Pokémon VGC World Championships. This initiative follows the addition of India as a standalone region within the Pokémon Champions cross-platform game, which is accessible on mobile devices.
The competition structure begins with a series of Global Challenges. The first two challenges are scheduled for late 2026: Global Challenge I from September 25 to September 28, and Global Challenge II from October 30 to November 2, both utilizing the Regulation M-C format. Following six Global Challenges, 540 players will advance to an Online Qualifier in May 2027. The top performers from that qualifier will move on to an in-person Grand Finals in June 2027, with travel support provided by The Pokémon Company.
Susumu Fukunaga, Corporate Officer at The Pokémon Company, noted that previous mainstream battle games were often unavailable on consoles in India, limiting competitive opportunities. The new mobile-accessible format aims to allow Indian fans to represent their country on the global stage.
