Pokémon franchise expands with Pokopia launch and upcoming port rumors

The Pokémon franchise is expanding its presence on Nintendo platforms. Pokémon Pokopia, a life simulation and construction game co-developed by The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, and Koei Tecmo, was released on March 5, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2. In this title, players control a Ditto tasked with restoring a desolate world through resource gathering, building, and community development.

Additionally, rumors are circulating regarding the release of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Leaks from insiders and dataminers suggest these third-generation classics may receive official ports for both the current Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, with a potential release date of October 8, 2026. While these reports include specific dates and mentions of Pokémon HOME compatibility found in existing game files, the ports have not yet been officially confirmed.
