Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Launch
Entities: Manaphy · Ditto · The Pokémon Company · Pokémon Pokopia · Nintendo
Overview
Version 2.0.0 of Pokémon Pokopia rolled out on 4‑5 August 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, adding the free Dive move and expanding the Build specialty to allow underwater house construction. The patch also introduced quality‑of‑life tools—Portal Pod, Safe, a Dynamic Ditto Print pattern, extra emotes, five new hair colours, bulk‑item transfer, item‑deletion options, and motion‑sickness camera settings. The mythical Water Pokémon Manaphy appears, teaching Dive, and the Surf move receives upgrades.
The first paid segment of the three‑part Expansion Pass, titled Fondare Bolleblub (also known as Bubbly Basin or Cuenca Coralina), launched simultaneously. It provides an underwater city populated by new Water‑type Pokémon, marine‑themed furniture and outfits, floating building blocks, and water‑specialty Pokémon that power machines and grow watermelons. A Sharpedo‑inspired submarine and the ability to build floating structures using electric‑type Pokémon are also included. Players can raise Palette Town’s environment level to unlock new recipes.
A guide released on 6 August 2026 details how to obtain Dive. After installing the 2.0.0 update, players must already have Surf and reach level 5 at Bleak Beach. Speaking with Professor Tangrowth and feeding the mythical Manaphy five seaweed on a nearby offshore island unlocks Dive as a traversal ability rather than an HM, and it does not require the paid Expansion Pass. Controls involve holding B to swim, using R/L to adjust depth, and ZL to hover.
The release confirms Part 2 of the Expansion Pass is planned for late 2026 and Part 3 for early 2027, with coordinated in‑game events running from 6 August to 3 September 2026.
