Pokémon celebrates 30th anniversary with TCG expansion and LEGO sets
The Pokémon franchise is marking its 30th anniversary with significant expansions in both the trading card game and merchandise sectors. The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) will launch a 30th Celebration expansion through a staggered rollout from September to November 2026. This collection includes various products such as Elite Trainer Boxes, Battle Decks featuring Eeveelutions, and an Ultra Premium Collection. A major highlight for collectors is a series of 30 different Pikachu illustrations included in booster packs.
Simultaneously, The LEGO Group is expanding its Pokémon-themed offerings with the SMART Play system. This line includes various builds, such as the Charmander and Geodude Cavern Clash and Mewtwo’s Lab Break, which utilize interactive SMART Bricks to enable digital-physical play. The collaboration also features smaller recruitment bags, including a Premier Ball set and Trainer Supplies, as well as promotional events in select LEGO Brand Stores involving Pokémon GO integration.
