Pokémon Observatory exhibition to tour Japanese museums

The “Pokémon Observatory” exhibition, supervised by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ), is a traveling science event designed to teach visitors about the mysteries of space through the lens of Pokémon ecology. The project is a collaboration between NAOJ and The Pokémon Company.

Following its initial run at the Sagamihara City Museum, the exhibition is scheduled to visit several locations across Japan. Upcoming stops include the Toyohashi City Natural History Museum in Aichi Prefecture from September 21 to December 6, 2026, and the Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture, with a scheduled start in late December 2026.

The exhibition also features collaborations with the mobile game Pokémon GO. During these events, players can expect themed field research tasks, special PokéStops with unique illustrations, and the appearance of specific Pokémon in the wild that relate to astronomical themes.
