Pokémon themed exhibitions in Japan

Overview

Various Pokémon-themed exhibitions are scheduled to take place across Japan in late 2026.

In Toyohashi, the Toyohashi City Natural History Museum will host the “Pokémon Observatory” exhibition from September 21 to December 6. Co-organized with the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, the event uses Pokémon to promote interest in space and natural sciences, featuring scientific models and samples from the asteroid Ryugu.

In Tokyo, the Japan Olympic Museum will host the “Pokemon and Athletes’ Moves Exhibition” from September 19 to November 23. This initiative by the Japan Olympic Committee and The Pokémon Company pairs specific Pokémon with sporting disciplines to teach children about the joy of sports through themed sections and physical simulations.

As part of the “JOC Kids Sports Ambassador” initiative, the Tokyo event features 59 Pokémon selected from over 1,000 candidates, such as Tinkaton for golf and Sneasel for sports climbing. The exhibition is organized into four interactive sections: comparing athlete and Pokémon moves, mimicking athletic poses, examining sports equipment alongside Pokémon tools, and participating in physical sports simulations. Visitors can also engage in a Pikachu-themed quiz rally to earn original stickers. A dedicated website, “Pokémon Sports Park,” has been launched to provide further information on the collaboration. Admission to the museum's first-floor Welcome Salon is free during the exhibition period.
