Poland: 77-year-old man found safe after getting lost while mushroom picking

A 77-year-old man was successfully located after getting lost while mushroom picking in the Chełm municipality, specifically in the Stańków area. The man had gone into the forest with his wife but lost contact with her and did not have a mobile phone.

A large-scale search operation was launched, involving over 200 police officers from Chełm and Lublin, firefighters, and Border Guard personnel. Search efforts included the use of a service dog and drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras to navigate the difficult terrain and darkness. The man was found in a cornfield near a forest complex after approximately four hours and did not require hospitalization.
