Poland alerts NATO to Russian ‘green‑men’ provocation risk

Polish military intelligence warned that Russia could stage limited attacks on NATO’s eastern flank, using unmarked soldiers – the so‑called “green men” – similar to the 2014 Crimea operation. Colonel Paweł Szota told a local newspaper that such provocations aim to test NATO’s response, and that Poland will defend every square centimetre of NATO territory.

In a separate speech to the United Russia party congress, President Vladimir Putin acknowledged that Russia is experiencing “difficult times” but affirmed that the state will safeguard its borders, protect its citizens, and continue to support the “special military operation” in Ukraine. He blamed Western pressure for the challenges and vowed to counter any attempts to destabilise Russia.
