Poland allocates 26 billion PLN for drone and anti-drone capabilities
Poland is significantly increasing its defense spending on unmanned technologies, with the budget for drones and anti-drone systems rising from 100 million PLN to 26 billion PLN for 2026. Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz identified three strategic priorities: drones and anti-drone systems, long-range precision capabilities, and artificial intelligence.
As part of this initiative, the Polish defense industry is developing the Striker, a strike drone with a declared range of up to 1,000 km. The project involves a collaboration between FlyFocus and Military Aviation Works No. 2, part of the PGZ Group. Additionally, the Ministry of National Defense plans to establish a drone legion composed of specialized operators rather than traditional soldiers.
The strategic shift follows lessons learned from the war in Ukraine, emphasizing the need to integrate modern unmanned technologies alongside traditional heavy weaponry to ensure effective defense and the ability to strike deep into enemy territory.
