Poland allocates €32 bn for 500 km high‑speed rail, Spanish firms compete for contracts

Poland will spend about €32.2 billion to build roughly 480 km of high‑speed railway linking Warsaw with Łódź, Poznań and Wrocław. The project, called Port Polska, is part of the Trans‑European Transport Network and includes an intermodal airport and facilities that can serve NATO forces. The first section between Warsaw and Łódź is slated for completion in 2032, with the full line expected by 2035.

Spanish construction and rail companies – including Adif, Renfe, Acciona, CAF, Indra, Talgo and others – are being promoted by Spain’s transport minister Óscar Puente, who met his Polish counterpart Dariusz Klimczak to secure participation. The Spanish government is pushing its firms to win contracts for civil works, rolling stock and signalling, echoing earlier export successes with the AVE network.
