Poland allocates 581 million zł for S1 expressway Klimontów junction

The Polish government confirmed financing of 581 million zł for the expansion of the S1 expressway, including the construction of the Klimontów junction. Of the total, 485 million zł comes from the General Directorate for National Roads and Highways and 96 million zł is contributed by the municipality of Sosnowiec. The junction, scheduled for tender this year, will cost about 76 million zł and is planned to be built between 2027 and 2029, improving traffic flow for the regional economic zone and a nearby rail siding.

In the neighbouring area of Mały Cisiec, residents continue to experience disruptions after the completion of the S1 bypass. They report difficult access to local roads, unresolved compensation claims for property damage, and loss of private water sources. Over 460 signatures have been gathered in petitions addressing these issues, and local officials note slow responses from the road authority and the construction firm Mirbud. The situation highlights lingering social and infrastructural challenges linked to the expressway project.
