Polish households can receive up to 8,000 zł for rainwater retention systems

On 22 June 2026 the Wojewódzki Fundusz Ochrony Środowiska i Gospodarki Wodnej (WFOŚiGW) opened the application round for the national “Microretencja” programme, offering grants that cover up to 90 % of eligible costs, with a maximum of 8,000 zł, for the installation of rain‑water collection, storage and reuse systems on single‑family homes.

The scheme is financed by the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment (FEnIKS) with a total budget of 173 million zł; 9.4 million zł is earmarked for the Kuyavian‑Pomeranian region (Torun office) and 8 million zł for the Lubusz region (Zielona Góra office). Eligible applicants are owners, co‑owners or perpetual usufruct users of residential properties. Projects must have been executed between 1 July 2024 and 31 December 2027 and applications are to be submitted electronically.

Supported measures include rooftop rain‑water harvesting, collection of runoff from roofs, pavements and driveways, underground or above‑ground tanks of at least 2 m³, infiltration‑based retention and equipment for garden irrigation. The grant is paid as a reimbursement after the work is completed.
