NATO allies bolster infrastructure security against Russian false-flag threats
NATO members in Poland and the Baltic states are intensifying security measures for critical infrastructure due to intelligence warnings of potential Russian false-flag operations. These suspected provocations could involve using captured or Ukrainian-made drones to attack energy facilities, dams, and gas storage sites, with the intent of framing Ukraine and testing NATO's collective response.
In Lithuania, the military has been deployed to support police in securing the Klaipėda LNG terminal, oil product terminals, and the Kruonis hydro plant. Latvia has similarly increased protection around the Daugava River dam and the Incukalns underground gas storage facility. Poland's energy company Orlen is exploring alternative import routes to mitigate potential supply disruptions.
