Poland plans agricultural aid and tax reforms
The Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is developing support programs for farmers facing rising production costs due to geopolitical crises. Key proposals include increasing the diesel excise duty refund to 2 PLN per liter and providing additional aid for fertilizer purchases. The ministry is currently awaiting notification and coordination with the European Commission regarding these changes.
In addition to fuel and fertilizer aid, the government is addressing agricultural losses caused by severe weather, including hail and heavy rains. While a state of natural disaster will not be declared, the ministry plans to accelerate direct payment advances to improve farm liquidity.
Regarding long-term financial planning, the ministry aims to increase the pool for direct subsidies in 2027 by 396 million EUR to maintain current support levels. However, changes to eco-schemes are being proposed, which may reduce the availability of certain environmental subsidies.
Separately, the Ministry of Finance is analyzing tax implications for foreign same-sex marriages, specifically concerning joint PIT filings and family tax reliefs. Meanwhile, legislative discussions are ongoing regarding the potential raising of the second tax threshold from 120,000 PLN to 140,000 PLN to alleviate the burden on middle-income earners.
