Poland animal‑welfare actions: dog neglect case and horse‑transport protest
Prosecutors in Kolbuszowa have opened an inquiry into the discovery of more than 30 severely neglected dogs on a private property in Jagodnik, Kolbuszowa County. The animals were described as emaciated, skin‑lesioned and terrified. They have been taken to the Czekadełko shelter in Wadowice Dolne for extensive care while officials assess whether animal‑cruelty charges apply.
Animal‑rights organisations are planning a protest on 18 July at Palenica Białczańska near Morskie Oko, launching a nationwide campaign (#NieJeżdżęFasiągiem) urging tourists to stop using horse‑drawn carriages. The demonstration follows recent activism surrounding a shelter in Nowy Targ and the fate of over 270 dogs there, highlighting broader concerns over animal welfare in the region.
