Poland announces new school nutrition rules and 2026/2027 academic calendar
Poland has released key updates regarding the 2026/2027 school year, including new nutritional regulations and the official academic calendar.
Starting September 1, 2026, new regulations from the Ministry of Health will govern nutrition in kindergartens and schools. These rules aim to promote healthy habits by limiting the sale of foods high in sugar, salt, and fat in school shops and vending machines. The regulations also mandate an increased presence of vegetables, fruits, and whole-grain products in school meals.
The Ministry of National Education has also published the academic calendar for the 2026/2027 year. Classes will begin on September 1, 2026, with a winter holiday break scheduled from December 23 to December 31, 2026. Winter breaks for students will be divided into three regional groups: January 18–31, February 1–14, and February 15–28, 2027.
