Poland: Arrests made in separate domestic violence cases

Authorities in Poland have taken legal action in two separate cases of domestic violence involving physical and psychological abuse.

In Polkowice, police arrested a 42-year-old man accused of abusing his wife for several years. A court has ordered his temporary arrest for three months to ensure the victim's safety and isolate the aggressor. Under Article 207§1 of the Penal Code, perpetrators of such abuse face up to five years in prison.

In Sandomierz, the District Prosecutor's Office has filed indictments against 23-year-old Bartłomiej L. He is accused of abusing a nine-month-old child and the child's mother. The investigation revealed that the abuse of the infant began around December 2025, while the violence against the mother started in November 2025. The case came to light in July after doctors hospitalized the infant discovered injuries suggesting external harm and notified the police.
