Poland begins construction of DK69 road to new nuclear power plant
Construction has begun on a new 26-kilometer road, designated as DK69, in the Pomerania region of Poland. The route is designed to connect the S6 expressway at the Łęczyce junction directly to the site of the future Lubiatowo-Kopalino nuclear power plant in the Choczewo municipality.
The project is divided into two main segments: an 11-kilometer stretch from Lubiatowo to provincial road 213, and a 15-kilometer stretch connecting road 213 to the S6 expressway. Built as a main accelerated traffic road (GP class), the route will feature one lane in each direction and is engineered to support heavy vehicles with an axle load of up to 11.5 tons.
Work commenced in April 2026, with current intensive activities focused on a 5-kilometer section near the future power plant site. Ongoing tasks include earthworks, drainage, and soil reinforcement to ensure a stable foundation for the heavy transport required during the nuclear plant's construction phase. Once completed, the road will also serve local residents and tourists.
