Poland receives five more F-35 fighter jets as military modernization continues

Poland is advancing its military modernization program with the arrival of five additional F-35A Lightning II fighter jets. These aircraft, nicknamed ‘Husarz’, are heading to the 32nd Tactical Air Base in Łask. This delivery will bring Poland’s total F-35 fleet to eight, with a goal of reaching 14 aircraft by the end of 2026 and completing the full order of 32 jets by 2029 or 2030.

Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that these high-tech stealth fighters are essential for strengthening the national security system and supporting allies. The $4.6 billion contract with Lockheed Martin aims to replace older aircraft and enhance capabilities in reconnaissance, electronic warfare, and ground attacks.

In a separate but related effort to bolster aerial logistics, Poland is collaborating with Spain to acquire Airbus A330 MRTT multi-role tanker transport aircraft. Through a joint procurement program, Poland expects to receive four of these tankers by 2030 to provide necessary in-flight refueling capabilities for its expanding fighter fleet.
