Poland begins receiving Kleszcz reconnaissance vehicles
The Polish Armed Forces have begun receiving the first Kleszcz light armored reconnaissance vehicles to replace the obsolete Soviet-era BRDM-2. The initial delivery included two units provided to the 15th Giżycka Mechanized Brigade, part of the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division.
Developed by AMZ-Kutno SA in collaboration with several Polish military research institutes, the Kleszcz (also known as Bóbr-3) is an amphibious 4x4 vehicle. It features a 326 hp diesel engine, an Allison automatic transmission, and a top road speed of 100 km/h. The vehicle provides STANAG 4569 level 2a ballistic protection and is equipped with a Kongsberg Protector remotely controlled weapon station.
The current contract, valued at $205 million, covers the delivery of 28 units along with logistics, training, and production capacity investments. This is part of a larger program established via a framework agreement signed in February 2024, which aims to acquire a total of 286 vehicles by 2035. Further batches are expected to arrive by the end of 2026.
