On 1 August 2026 Poland will observe the 82nd anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. At 17:00 the national “Hour W” siren will sound for one minute across the country, simultaneously serving as a training test of the alarm system and a symbolic remembrance of the 1944 uprising.

Local authorities in dozens of towns – including Chojnice, Szczecin, Jaworzno, Suwałki, Białystok, Iława and the Podkarpackie region – will hold ceremonies such as flower‑laying, historical lectures, concerts, live human formations of the “Poland Fighting” sign and religious services. President Karol Nawrocki addressed the events, stressing that the uprising was a necessary struggle for freedom rather than an impulsive romance. Archbishop Adrian Galbas and other clergy led masses in Warsaw and other cities.

A nationwide blood‑donation drive titled “Przelej Krew w Rocznicę Powstania Warszawskiego” will take place in Szczecin’s aeroclub, organized by the Patriotic Foundation of Witold Pilecki. The anniversary also sparked political commentary, with Grzegorz Braun condemning the uprising as a hecatomb, and a controversy in Iława over a poster that mistakenly featured the Palace of Culture and Science.
