Poland completes S6 expressway, linking Szczecin to Gdańsk

On 26 June 2024, the last section of Poland’s S6 expressway was opened, completing a continuous high‑speed road from Szczecin through Koszalin and Słupsk to the Tricity. The full 300‑km route enables travel between Szczecin and Gdańsk in about two hours, easing summer traffic along the Baltic coast.

The S6 forms part of the Via Hanseatica European corridor (E28) and includes modern interchanges, animal crossings, acoustic screens and connections to the S7 and A1 motorways. Officials expect the road to boost tourism, shorten freight journeys and attract investment to regional cities such as Słupsk, Lębork and Koszalin.
