Poland considers easing Sunday retail trading restrictions
Poland is reviewing potential changes to its Sunday trading restrictions. The Polish Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy has begun analyzing a petition submitted on August 5 regarding safe Sunday trading, economic growth, and worker protection. The analysis is expected to be completed by November 5, 2026.
A legislative proposal currently before the Polish Sejm suggests easing existing limitations by allowing trade on the first and third Sunday of every month. This project, which includes additional worker guarantees, has passed its first reading and moved to committee stages. If implemented, these changes would impact Lithuanian citizens who frequently travel to Polish cities like Suvalkai or Augustow for shopping.
