Poland considers military requisition of private property
The Polish Ministry of National Defence has introduced a draft regulation that allows for the potential requisition of private property for military needs. Under the proposed rules, up to 400 real estate properties, 50 vehicles, 10 trailers, and 5 machines could be utilized in 2025. The regulation specifies that real estate may be used by public administration for military qualification purposes, such as medical commissions, while vehicles and machinery may be used for military exercises.
In a related discussion on national readiness, MEP Michał Dworczyk criticized Poland’s current response capabilities regarding Russian activities near the border. He argued that the country needs to improve its practical preparedness and called for the reinstatement of mandatory, universal military training. Dworczyk emphasized that since the state cannot quickly build enough shelters for all citizens, civil defense training and citizen knowledge are essential for responding to potential threats.
