Poland develops drone infrastructure and competence centers

The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency is developing specialized drone competence centers and infrastructure across Poland, including projects in the Podkarpackie and Lower Silesian regions.

In Podkarpackie, Kolbuszowa County and the municipality of Zagórz have joined as infrastructure partners. The project involves installing monitoring devices using ADS-B, FLARM, and Remote ID technologies to create a regional surveillance network. This initiative, part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, aims to establish “drone highways” for safe and integrated unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations.

In Lower Silesia, a similar project is establishing a drone competence center centered around Lubin and the Copper Basin. The Lower Silesian UAV Air Zone is expected to cover over 1,500 km², including municipalities such as Polkowice, Chocianów, and Chojnów. The initiative includes the development of a field training and testing center in Osieku to support education, SME development, and professional pilot examinations.
