Poland e-commerce imports drop 50% following new customs duties

The volume of e-commerce customs declarations for goods valued up to 150 euros has dropped by 50.1% month-on-month following the implementation of new EU customs regulations. According to data from the Ministry of Finance, declarations fell from 4,238,517 in June to 2,113,704 in July.

The decline coincides with the introduction of a flat-rate customs duty of 3 euros on shipments from non-EU countries. While the number of shipments has decreased, the new regulations generated approximately 67.99 million PLN in customs revenue during July, which will support both the Polish and EU budgets.

The Ministry of Finance noted that because July was the first full month under the new rules, it is too early to determine if this represents a permanent market shift or a temporary adjustment by consumers and suppliers.
